I’m pretty sure, that somewhere down the line, I have been this client. Reminder to self: STOP.

Give me a jaunty tune…

Posted on August 15th, 2008 by admin in Music, Science

CERN Rap from Will Barras on Vimeo

Although highly informative (and entertaining?) I was hoping for more of a jaunty tune. The LHC could give us an incredible opportunity to better understand our place in the Universe. A rap just doesn’t cut it. Other suggestions anyone? Maybe this? A little obvious, but certainly a classic…

Subtract Garfield, add angst

Posted on August 10th, 2008 by admin in Art, Weblogs

garfield minus garfield.

“Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle.”

This is simply BRILLIANT…and, the ONLY way one should look at Garfield comics ever again.

CERN Press Release – CERN announces start-up date for LHC

Beyond a general concern about the end of the universe as we know it, nothing new to report here…just an excuse to post this great shot from inside the LHC.

Aurora browser concept

Posted on August 07th, 2008 by admin in Web/Tech

Aurora (Part 1) from Adaptive Path on Vimeo

“Aurora is a concept video exploring one possible future user experience for the Web, created by Adaptive Path as part of the Mozilla Labs concept series. For more, visit adaptivepath.com/aurora.”

This is an interesting concept. Highly connected, highly flexible. I wonder, however, if it suffers from a little “everything from everyone” design (as another commentor suggested). Regardless, it certainly provokes thought and discussion.

Questions to consider:

  • Is this the way of the web?
  • What does this design assume…about bandwidth?…about content?…about interoperability between data sets?
  • Is it intuitive enough for “everyman”?
  • Why so focused on the terminal?
